The Magic of Tailoring

Celebrities have access to the best stylists and exclusive designers, But all of this means nothing if their clothes do not fit perfectly and their overall look is not completely polished and put together. Their secret?? Tailoring. It’s very rare that you take a clothing item off the rack and it fits your body perfectly. Most people get frustrated, out back on the rack and leave the store. If you ever look behind the mannequins in the stores you will see the reason the cloths look so good on the mannequins is because they’re pinned from behind to make them fit perfectly. that is exactly what men and women need to do with their cloths. when our cloths fits perfect it makes us look more slim, polished and put-together. when your cloths are baggy and ill fitting it only adds bulk and pounds and looks messy.
Make sure your clothing fits you to a “T” by following these tips:
Find a Good Tailor
Do your research and find a professional tailor that will pay attention to details and knows how to work with different fabric and different style of clothing. Your dry cleaner who hems pants too doesn’t count.
Hem the Front to Match the Back
If you have a heavier bottom, chances are when wearing a skirt the hem is shorter in the back than in the front. This detail only goes to emphasize your rear. For a quick fix, stop by your tailor and have them hem the front of your skirt to match the back while you are wearing it. Although it may look uneven on the hanger, it will appear perfectly when worn.
Sew in Extra Snaps and Pockets
If you are a busty woman that often struggles with large gaps in between the buttons on your blouses you can stop by a fabric or craft store and get some small plastic snaps. They come in a variety of colors, so you should be able to find some that work with your particular blouse. Sew the snaps in between the existing buttons on the inside of the placket to prevent indecent exposure. From the outside the snaps are invisible, but it’s amazing how they will keep your entire look smoother and slimmer. You can also cut the inside of your pant pockets and then sew them shut. Any extra fabric will add more bulk. Dress the biggest part of your body first and try to fit that part. the rest can be fixed and taken in by your tailor for a fitted look.
Be Creative
Take a look in your closet, you will find some items that have been sitting there for a long time simply because it doesn’t fit right or doesn’t look right. think about how you can change the look to make it wearable again. Take the sleeves off, shorten the length, make a skinny out of straight leg, make it tighter. Your tailor can work wonders if you find the right one.
