Belly Dance Classes

Phoenix began teaching in 2002. Phoenix works with each student to develop strength in their moves, correct dance posture, technique, confidence, and create their own style. Phoenix believes and teaches that there is a goddess in every dancer that must be nurtured and encouraged – this includes men, women, all ages, and walks of life. Phoenix teaches self-expression and creativity.

Phoenix’s classes begin with focus on strengthening the abdominals and dance posture. The classes begin with the basics and move into more complicated moves. Phoenix allows each student to advance at their own pace. Phoenix teaches zill technique from the drummer and dancer perspective. As a student gains technique in movement and zills, they are moved to the next class level. Phoenix provides performance opportunities for her students to grow and gain experience.

Phoenix began professionally performing in 2000. Phoenix is a versatile performer altering her performance to fit the venue and audience. While Phoenix does love traditional belly dance, she enjoys moving out of the traditional realm and taking the dance down a different track. This includes dancing to a variety of music from traditional to trance and industrial. Phoenix enjoys varying her performance using zills, Isis Wings, small wings, double veil, feather fans, Thai fingers, sword, cane, and fire. Phoenix also performs with her ball python, Nagaina.

Phoenix‘s past performances include many types of events (belly dance shows, festivals, clubs, vampire and gothic balls, alternative shows, belly grams, & restaurants). Phoenix performs with a number of bands in the Denver area – these include traditional Middle Eastern style, Gothic, and heavy metal rock bands.
