Marcela Escobar

  Background
mmar I’ve been belly dancing since the age of 17. I started learning with national and international dancers. The Arab culture has always been an inspiration for me, and belly dance is the way to get closer to it. It also has changed my life style and provides me happiness, health and fun. Being a belly dancer in the Latin American culture has been challenging, but also fun. The response of the audience has been positive. In order to that, my sister, Ambar Escobar and I started the Salvadorian troupe called Layali Al Shark Danza Oriental, there are five members and some of them are our students.
Belly Dance Classes
I’ve been a belly dance instructor for three years and my methodology is based on a complete understanding of the belly dance culture, but also the technique and it’s complexity. It has changed my life in many ways. I have
had the opportunity to meet a lot of people and learn about life.

Performances
marcela11 If there’s something that I love to do, it’s performing. When people go to our show they find something new and it’s a great way to entertain families. Our troupe has performed in Palacio de Artes de Santa Tecla, David J. Guzmán anthropology Museum, Teatro Presidente, Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas (UCA), Club Árabe Salvadoreño, Leo´s Mediterranean Restaurant and other places. I have learned to manage my nervousness on stage and enjoy a lot more of my performances.
