Tina Enheduanna

Background
Tina You wouldn’t think Rhode Island would be a hotspot for Bellydance in the early 90′s, but given its large Lebanese and Armenian population, being so close to Boston, Bellydance there thrived under top-knotch teachers Morwenna Assaf, Nourhan Sharif, and Shadia Maalouf. Still close enough to hop on a train to NYC for classes with Elena Lentini, Yousry Sharif, and Tayyar Akdeniz, Rhode Islanders had great opportunities to receive masterful training. I worked closely with Nourhan Sharif and the Egyptian Academy of Oriental Dance in both dance and event production.
Teaching Style
When Nourhan Sharif left Rhode Island permanently for NYC, she asked me to take over her classes in Rhode Island. I had been teaching small classes here and there, but her job seemed enormous. I tried to continue Nourhan’s focus on masterful technique, while fostering creativity and encouraging women to be and feel their best. Cholinetsmall
Performances Contact and Classes
I like the challenge of matching the dance to the audience. On the east coast, everyone was either Lebanese or Armenian. In OC, there is such diversity, I feel like I’ve danced for every ethnicity on earth. The Persians really threw me for a loop! It has been so fun learning to bring in Persian parts to my party routines. I enjoy learning the audience needs and expectations, and then giving them both what they want, and something they didn’t expect.I started in a small traditional Armenian taverna in Rhode Island, with live Lebanese music. There were no CD’s then. If you danced, you danced live. Here in CA, the live music clubs where I’ve most enjoyed dancing are the Luxor, the Aegean, Haji Baba’s, Greek Palace, Darband, Caspian, and Grand Cafe. I offer 3 levels of instruction for group classes, as well as private lessons. The classes are held through City Community Centers 4 days per week, in Laguna Hills, San Clemente and Dana Point, CA. Students may email me for a current class schedule.
